About The Bell

Our iconic building is a former 15th century coaching inn, famed for being one of the finest rest stops on the A1 and is as comfortable and elegant today as it was in its coaching heyday.

Whether you are looking for a welcoming place to spend the night or would simply like to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat surrounded by friendly faces, The Bell is perfectly placed, right in the centre of the historic village of Stilton. It has its own car park, offers all-day dining, an in-house coffee shop, free WiFi and is pet-friendly.

A Fascinating History

The beautifully restored Bell Inn dates from at least the

1600s and is one of the oldest and most famous of the

former coaching inns on England’s historic Great North Road.

An early innkeeper earned national recognition for advancing the

fame of Stilton cheese and for his amazing feats of endurance in the saddle.
